Anniversary Dinner
The Anniversary Gala dinner is our school’s largest annual fundraiser, a vital source for closing financial gaps that tuition alone cannot cover. The generosity of our WDS community enables us to uphold an exceptional dual-curriculum education, cater to the holistic needs of our students, offer diverse learning opportunities, amplify our spirit, and extend a welcoming hand to Israeli families who faced temporary displacement this year —all while addressing heightened security needs post October 7th.
Westchester Day School's 77th Anniversary Dinner: A Celebration of Light
The Westchester Day School (WDS) community illuminated the night last motzei Shabbat at its 77th Anniversary Dinner, as parents, alumni, community, and faculty came together to celebrate their shared values, connections, and commitment to making WDS a home away from home for so many.
With Chanukah around the corner, this year’s theme was מעט מן האור דוחה הרבה מן החושך—A small amount of light pushes away much darkness. Head of School Rabbi Dani Rockoff beautifully captured the essence of the evening with his heartfelt words: “Every single one of you brings light to our school, our lives, and most importantly, to our children. Together, we illuminate the path forward, ensuring WDS remains a beacon of learning and values for generations to come.”
The light of the WDS community shone brightly as alumni, parents, and faculty shared the profound impact WDS has had on their lives. A central message of the evening was clear: at WDS, children are nurtured to excel academically, embody chesed and kindness, and embrace their Jewish heritage. The light of Torah and mitzvot guides every student from their earliest years through graduation and beyond, igniting a spark that inspires them to shine wherever life takes them.
This year, WDS proudly honored four remarkable individuals and families for their extraordinary dedication to the school and its continued growth and success:
- Rachel Berger Groner ('94) and Samuel Groner
- Pamela and Aaron Lauchheimer
- Dena Ingerman, recipient of the Nediv Lev Award
- Jolanta Goldstein, WDS Art Specialist and recipient of the Faculty Award

The dinner also reflected WDS’s unwavering love of Medinat Yisrael, recognizing alumni and parents who have served in the IDF. Displays of student projects—like mezuzot from STEM classes—showcased the school’s innovative approach to preparing students for a world of tomorrow. Attendees sponsored these mezuzot to adorn WDS doorposts, creating a lasting connection between the evening and the school’s daily life.
The 77th Anniversary Dinner was more than a celebration—it was a testament to the strength of the WDS community. Thank you to all of our supporters. With your help, WDS can continue to be a guiding light for Jewish families, fostering a brighter future for generations to come.
